A sustainable rural society, where no poverty exists and people act responsibly toward the environment
In August 2021, the Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD), University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University supported the forest management community in Tu Ret village, Dak Nen commune, Kon Plong district, province Kon Tum to develop the local sustainable forest management plan.

Mr. AH Rum is disseminating the Plan to community members

With the support from CRD’s consulting team, the Community Forest Management Board (CFMB) of Tu Ret Village has reviewed the current forest status to serve as a basis for the development of sustainable forest management plan for the period 2023-2027. Based on the review results, the CFMB together with the core members discussed and selected activities suitable to the site conditions of each forest area as well as with the community’s implementation capacity to complete the plan. The plan has also been disseminated to the members of community forest management board.

According to Mr. A H Rum, head of the CFMB of Tu Ret village,The sustainable forest management plan is developed by the community to effectively implement forest management and protection activities over a 5-year period. The plan serves as the basis for the Community Forest Management Board to plan to deploy forest protection patrol activities, as well as forest nurturing ones.”

The activity is within the framework of the project “Strengthening access to the management and use of land and forests by ethnic minorities” in Kon Tum province, funded by the European Union (EU) and co-implemented by CRD, the Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA); and the Center for Highland Natural Resource Governance Research (CEGORN).
