A developed rural society with sustainable well-being, environment, ecology, equity and democracy

On July 22, a meaningful communication activity on “School Violence Prevention” took place at the North Central Youth Center (Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province) to help children manage their emotions and nurture their positive emotions.

This activity was organized by the Centre for Rural Development in the Central Vietnam (CRD), Hue University of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Children’s House in Quang Binh province on the occasion of the summer camp “Growth by Experience”.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung (head of the Department of Educational Psychology, Hue University of Education) talked about emotions, and how to manage and control emotions with 65 children under 16 years old.

During his talks, children gradually explore their emotions and truly appreciate other people’s feelings. Based on the practice and experience methods, they can recognize their different emotions such as joy, anxiety, anger, confusion, frustration and sadness, etc. and know how to be able to choose the moods that’s best suited to a situation.

A thankful tree

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung enthusiastically talked and discussed with children how to control their moods, how to nurture gratitude, kindness and positive emotions. With these important things, children could improve their confidence, success and goodness to become a useful person in society.

When the communication activity ends, children themselves look for tiny but nice things to do, such as: cleaning up classrooms and the environment, and repositioning desks to help workers reduce their work. Or making a thankful tree by themselves and sincerely giving thanks to someone or something that life brings them.

This communication activity is funded by Save the Children under the project: Enhancing the capacity on Child rights governance for Civil Society Organizations – phase II.
