A sustainable rural society, where no poverty exists and people act responsibly toward the environment

Her Excellency Ms. Deborah Paul, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam paid a visit to Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) on January 17 2019.

At the meeting, CRD presented the initial results of the project “Promoting non-discrimination and inclusion of LGBT children and youths in Central Region of Vietnam” implemented in 5 central provinces, namely Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam. The project is coordinated by CRD with funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada via Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.

Her Excellency Ms. Deborah Paul also spent time to meet with the project team, the representatives of LGBT community in Hue, and the teachers who directly took part in the project’s trainings. Her Excellency listened to sharing from the participants on how they had benefited from the project and how such project activities were necessary in the local context.

At the end of the visit, the Ambassador said: “Canada values diversity and inclusion of vulnerable groups. I am amazed at the results of the project so far as well as the positive feedback from the beneficiaries including the teachers and the LGBT community.”.
